The Beaverhead, Pintler and Pioneer Mountains hold hundreds of amazingly beautiful lakes that with spectacular views from start to finish. Jill and Quint Nyman spend their summers hiking into as many of them as possible to escape the hustle of the world below, this is your chance to head out there too. Start out from deep valleys and work your way up to rocky ridges that rise up over 9000 feet to see the mountain ranges from the top.
Choose your trail distance- 4, 6, 8, 12 or 16 miles for a round trip to narrow down your destination and the plan will be in motion. What to bring? Good boots, a light pack, extra socks, bug and bear spray, a raincoat and of course, your trail dog. You’ll get to the trailhead early to head out for an all-day trip into the thin air of the high country where you can fish, swim (we dare you to jump in that water), fill your phone with pictures, or sprawl out on a warm boulder for a nap in the sun.
The trip out might go a little faster because there are juicy bacon cheeseburgers waiting at the Wise River Club in Wise River or delicious pizza at the Antlers Saloon Wisdom. You’ll be hungry and you’ll have earned it!
To help you prepare for your trip, we’ve included a new pair of Kenetrek hiking boots!
